Eye Care for Pets

Our vets aim to provide your pet with the most comprehensive and compassionate eye care possible.

Pets just like people can experience conditions in their eyes that can range from minor to severe in terms of seriousness. These conditions can cause them lots of discomfort and even lead to vision loss. When these problems are caught early, the treatments we have available could help reduce your pet's pain and preserve their eyesight.

Our vets have the tools to diagnose and treat a range of eye conditions and diseases including cataracts, infections, tumors, glaucoma, dry eye, uveitis, corneal ulcers, and more.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

We want your visit with us to be a high-quality experience. You will be welcomed by our friendly receptionists who will ask you to fill out our new patient form.

Please bring any medications your cat or dog is currently taking to your appointment. We will also ask you to send results from any recent blood tests or pertinent records prior to your appointment (if this is your first visit).

  • Patient History & Diagnostics

After we have received all of your information, we will bring you and your pet into an examination room and obtain specific details regarding your pet's history.

We will also perform initial diagnostic tests such as a Schirmer tear test, applanation tonometry, and vital staining.

  • Comprehensive Exam & Additional Diagnostics

Your vet will then conduct a comprehensive examination. This exam will include vision testing and indirect ophthalmoscopy.

The veterinarian will then talk to you about your cat or dog's current ocular condition and make recommendations for treatments and/or further diagnostics.

Additional diagnostic techniques that might be performed include cytology, aqueocentesis, genetic testing for inherited eye disease, and blood pressure measurement.

  • Discharge & Next Steps

When your appointment is finished you will be given discharge instructions including a diagnosis, directions for medical therapy, and a description of the current ocular condition.
